Pilonidal Sinus Prevention

Preventative Treatment/Not a cure for the infection.
This is not a treatment for the active infection. Lasering the hair in the area prevents a reoccurrence of the infection. You need medical treatment for the infection from your GP first.

What is Pilonidal Sinus?

A pilonidal sinus is a small hole or "tunnel" in the skin. It usually develops in the cleft of the buttocks where the buttocks separate.

Most people associate the word sinus with the nose, but sinuses can occur anywhere in the body. Sinus is simply a medical term for a channel or cavity.

A pilonidal sinus will not usually cause any noticeable symptoms unless it becomes infected. This can cause a pus-filled abscess to develop. Signs that you may have an infection include pain, redness and swelling in the affected area.

A pilonidal sinus is very often caused by hair piercing the skin and causing an infection.

Many patients we see have had the trauma of surgery to remove the infection and may continue to have a second or third occurrence. Prevention is better than cure! Laser treatment is an effective and affordable solution. Simply by killing the hair that is causing the infection, the otherwise very uncomfortable, very unpleasant medical condition may be eliminated.

Pilonidal sinuses commonly occur at the top of the buttocks and are often the result of trapped hairs.

"It doesn’t matter who you see at this clinic as they are all brilliant. Professional but fun and no sales speels.
A great team and far better than other places I have tried. You just feel safe as they know what they’re talking about."
